Revs vs. Sporting Kansas City :Match Preview

The Revs are in action Saturday night against Sporting Kansas City on the road. Read who I am predicting to win this match.

The Revs are coming off of a 2-2 draw with the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park last Saturday night. They will again be on the road once again to face Sporting Kansas City at Livestrong Sporting Park Saturday night. The match takes place at 8:30 PM EST. The game will be shown on Comcast SportsNet New England, and also can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

In their last match, the Revs (4-9-8, 20 points), came back in the 90th minute to get a point in a 2-2 draw with the Colorado Rapids. The Revs trailing 2-1 received a penalty kick in the last minute of the match before stoppage time. Shalrie Joseph scored to secure the draw for the Revs. This was a character building match for the Revs as they never gave up, and got rewarded in the end of the match. However, they will be looking for all 3 points against Sporting Kansas City.

Sporting Kansas City (6-6-8, 26 points) has been on a serious roll lately. In their last match they beat Toronto FC 4-2 last Saturday at home. They have not lost in the last 12 matches. They will be looking to extend that unbeaten streak to 13 against the Revs.

The clubs played earlier in the season on April 23rd at Gillette Stadium. The Revs came from behind, and scored 2 second half goals. Rajko Lekic scored in the 83rd minute to give the Revs the 3-2 victory. Sporting Kansas City will be looking for some revenge Saturday night.

The Revs do have injury concerns for this match. According to Revolutionsoccer.net, here are the injuries for the club.

Probable: Zak Boggs (high ankle sprain), Ryan Cochrane (foot pain),

Questionable: Kevin Alston (Hallux Rigidus)

Out: Kheli Dube (whiplash) Alan Koger (heel contusion)

Key players to watch in this match for the Revs are Benny Feilhaber, and Shalrie Joseph. These two players are hands down the Revs best players. Feilhaber could be playing up front to help Rajko Lekic. His passing ability could be very important for setting up the Danish striker to score. Joseph controls the game for the Revs from central midfield. If he is on his game, he can control the pace of the match.

Key players to watch for Sporting Kansas City are forwards Omar Bravo, and Kei Kamara. Bravo leads his team in scoring with 6 goals, and 2 assists. He is a very dangerous player. Kamara actually scored 2 goals against the Revs in their last game. He has 5 goals and 2 assists this season. These 2 players are very dangerous, and the Revs defenders will be counted on to contain these forwards.

The Revs have really shown great determination on the road, and they have been playing well lately. I actually expect their positive play to continue. I am predicting a 2-1 victory for the Revs against Sporting Kansas City.
