Revs vs. Columbus Crew :Match Preview

The Revs are on the road Saturday night to face the Columbus Crew. Read who I am predicting to win this match.

The Revs are coming off of a 3-2 loss to Chivas USA at home at Gillette Stadium last Saturday night. They will be on the road to face the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium Saturday night. The match takes place at 7:30 PM EST. The game will be shown on Comcast SportsNet New England, and also can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

In their last match, the Revs (4-10-9, 21 points) got behind early, and were playing catch up most of the match. The game changed for the Revs when 16 year old Diego Fagundez entered the match in the middle of the second half. He scored a goal late, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. The Revs lost to Chivas USA 3-2. They will be looking to rebound against the Crew.

In their last match, the Columbus Crew (9-7-7, 34 points), lost on the road to the Colorado Rapids 2-0 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park last Friday night. They are currently in first in the Eastern Conference, and will be looking for all 3 points at home against the seventh place Revs.

Out: Kheli Dube (whiplash) , Franco Coria (MCL Sprain), Rajko Lekic (toe fracture)

Key players to watch for the Revs are Milton Caraglio and Benny Feihaber. Caraglio is the Revs designated player, and was impressive in his debut. He is a striker up front, and already has shown to be a physical presence. The question is can he score?  Feilhaber will again be counted upon to create some offense for himself, and others in the final third. His play against the Crew could be crucial for the Revs.

Key players to watch for the Crew are Andres Mendoza and Robbie Rogers. Mendoza is a very dangerous forward, who has already scored 7 goals this season. Rogers in the midfield could be a handful for the Revs to contain. He has 2 goals and 3 assists this season. The Revs defenders will have to do a strong job shutting down these two Crew players.

The Revs have played very well lately on the road. I am optimistic that they can give the first place team in the conference a real good game. I think they are close to turning it around this season, and this could be the game to push them forward. I am predicting a 2-1 upset win for the Revs against the Columbus Crew.
