Town, Police Union Agree On New Pact

Police union agrees to co-pay change.

Foxborough's town manager, Kevin Paicos, announced at the Selectmen meeting this Tuesday that the Foxborough police and the town have agreed to the terms of a new two-year contract with a 3 percent raise effective July 1, 2011.

Paicos detailed the terms of the agreement for the board which said that the police union will get a 0 percent cost of living adjustment (COLA) for the current fiscal year, and a 3 percent COLA increase for the 2012 fiscal year 2012, beginning on July 1.

Paicos was also pleased to announce that the police and the town have agreed to a health insurance co-pay change as well. Foxborough officers agreed to pay higher health insurance co-pays, which will be increased from the current $5 co-pay to $15.

"The police union was willing to bargain with us. It shows that they get that the town is facing real financial issues," said Pacios.

Paicos is hopeful that all the town unions will agree to the co-pay change which would save the town $200,000 next year.

"The town meeting will ultimately decide if they like it, because they will be voting to fund it then," said Paicos.
