PHOTOS: Scenes from Election Day 2012 in Foxborough

Election Day 2012 in Foxborough has been one filled with excitement as voters participate in the purest form of democracy at the polls.

As of 3 p.m., 6,204 of Foxborough’s 11,403 registered voters exercised their right to vote inside the gymnasium of the Ahern Middle School on Mechanic Street.

In the parking lot, residents from the Republican and Democratic parties were exercising their rights to free speech, holding political signs to show support of the candidates they chose Tuesday.

Members from both the Foxborough Republican and Democratic town committees said they were happy with voter turnout, which is on pace to finish higher than it did in 2008 when 9,149 of the town’s 10,836 voters (84.5 percent) made it to the polls.

“It’s exciting,” said Foxborough Republican Committee member Angela Davis. “We are seeing about 300 to 500 people more per hour than we did in 2008. … It’s the rage against the machine in Washington D.C. People want change.”

Foxborough Democratic Committee member Michael Cohen said the turnout should make for a close, exciting race.

“It’s going to be a long night,” Cohen said.

Foxborough Republicans in the parking lot of Ahern said the country needs change and “people over party” while Democrats believed the candidates running within their party best represent the working class.

It will all be sorted out tonight after polls close.
