Head of Mass. Gambling Commission To Speak at Casino Event in Boston

Stephen P. Crosby, head of state's new gambling commission, will speak at a gambling forum next week. The lobbying firm representing Steve Wynn, is one of two sponsors listed on the invitation.

Stephen P. Crosby, head of state’s new gambling commission, will speak at a gambling event next week at the Westin Boston Waterfront, titled: “Spinning the Wheel: What the Industry Means for the Commonwealth," the Boston Globe reports.

The gambling event sponsored by a casino lobbyist, signals a red flag by critics who claim Crosby's participation in the event "gives the perception of favoritism and coziness between the industry and the commission."

Crosby, picked by Governor Deval Patrick to lead the gambling commission last month, said he consulted the State Ethics Commission before confirming his participation in the gambling forum. The event is open to the public.
