Having a Bake Sale? You're Going to Need a Permit!

Want to sell cookies at a local event? Starting this month, you're going to have to check-in with the board of health first.

In an email announcement, the board has told residents that bake sales in Foxborough now need a free permit.

"This new permitting procedure is in effect so the Foxboro Board of Health is able to keep track of these events for trace back purposes only," the announcement says.

The application asks for the name and contact information for the group holding the sale. In addition, the applicant is also asked to list what will be sold, noting that potentially hazardous baked foods include cream-filled or egg-filled items are restricted .

Other basic guidelines include washing your hands, not cooking while sick, keeping cooking utensils clean, and keeping pets and children out of the kitchen while baking.
