Governor Deval Patrick joined members of the Special Joint Committee on Redistricting Monday to sign House Bill 3798, “An Act Establishing Congressional Districts."
“My thanks go out to our legislative leaders and members of the Joint Special Committee on Redistricting for coming together and completing this extraordinary task,” said Governor Patrick in a press statement. “The districts adhere to Constitutional guidelines and were created through an open and transparent process. The new congressional district map reflects population shifts measured by the 2010 federal census and includes nine congressional seats, down from the current 10.
