Foxborough's 2011 Election: Deadline Today

March 14 is the last day to take out papers.

The deadline for residents to take out and return nomination papers to run for elected office in May is today, March 14 at 5:00 p.m.

The race for selectmen, Library Trustees and the Planning Board are heating up. Other offices will go uncontested in the May election.

A potential three way race for one selectmen seat has emerged. Steven Sloan, a Foxboro highway department employee, plans to run for the board. Incumbent Paul Mortenson and former member Mark S. Sullivan are also in the run for the selectmen seat.

Foxborough Patch has put together a snapshot of how the rest of the election is shaping up 

  • Thomas Magee, Incumbent Edward R. Minkleris and Kevin Penders are in a three way race for 2, three-year term seats on the Boyden Library Board. 
  • Incumbent Edward R. Minkleris running for library trustee.
  • Kevin Penders has taken out papers as of last Wednesday. Penders is a candidate for a three-year term as a library trustee.
  • Phillip Henderson, Water and Sewer Commission Chairman, originally took out papers for re-election but has recently decided to take himself off the ballot.
  • School committee member Beverley Lord has returned her nomination papers for re-election.
  • A 4-way race for two seats on the planning board is shaping up. Shannon L. McLaughlin, and Jeffrey K. Anderson took out nominations papers this week. Incumbents William Grieder and John Rhoads have already taken out their papers to run.
  • Charlene Kaye, incumbent, housing authority seeks a five year term.
  • Richard Pacella is seeking out for water and sewer commission.

Nomination papers for the May 2 annual town election are available at the Town’ Clerk office.

The ballot will feature one seat on the board of selectmen, board of assessors, school committee, water and sewer commissioner, board of health and the housing authority; two seats each for the Boyden Library Trustees and the planning board.
