Foxborough Town Meeting Adjourned Until May 16

Voting will continue at the adjourned town meeting on May 16 at 7:30 p.m.

A motion to adjourn Foxborough's annual town meeting was adopted last evening, May 10, shortly after midnight by a vote of 104-0.

Voting will continue at the adjourned town meeting on May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.

Foxborough residents made a motion to adjourn town meeting after dwindling numbers, late night hours and only achieving official votes on close to half of the town warrant articles.

"It is insulting to our democratic process [if we continue tonight]," said one Foxborough resident. "It's past midnight, people are tired and have to work tomorrow."

Selectmen Lawrence Harrington was concerned over allowing sufficient time for residents to be notified of the new town meeting date.

Residents and town officials agreed that adjourning town meeting until Monday, May 16, will give adequate time for the new date to be printed in the town papers.

Foxborough voters at the May 9th town meeting - the local meals tax. In addition to passing the meals tax, voters passed article 5 - a $57.8 million budget.
