Foxborough to Debate Retiree Cuts

Tonight's selectmen meeting will likely address the matter. ‎

The budget debate is likely to heat up at tonight's selectmen meeting.

Last week's March 29 meeting concluded with a "straw poll" initiated by the selectmen as a way to determine if there was general consensus on the budget. The school committee voted 5-0 and selectmen voted 4 to 1 to support the elimination of the health premium subsidy over a two-years.

In what is being labeled a "mistake" by town manager, Kevin Pacios, the town has been picking up 70 percent of the premium for employees who retire before age 65 and are not yet eligible for Medicare.
