Former State Treasurer Cahill Pleads Not Guilty

Timothy P. Cahill, the former state treasurer and candidate for governor, pleaded not guilty to charges that he used state funds in his run for governor.

 

Former State Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill of Quincy plead not guitly to the allegations he used $1.5 million taxpayer money from the state lottery in his 2010 run for governor in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston.

“Today is a beginning of a long process that will result in the end of my name being cleared and my reputation being restored,” said Cahill. “No one used public money to produce and run a campaign ad.”

Cahill’s former chief of staff, Scott Campbell, and former lottery chief of staff, Alfred Grazioso Jr., are also facing charges in the case and they also  pleaded not guilty

All three charged were released on personal recognizance. A tentative trial date has been set for Sept. 24.
