Building Committee, Library Trustees Find Compromise

Trustees regain trust in building committee's recommendations.

"Find a way to reach a compromise," was the recommendation from the Board of Selectmen for the town's permanent municipal school and building committee and the library trustees, and that is exactly what happened at this week's Library Trustee meeting.

In a push by the building committee at last week's selectmen meeting, The Boyden Library trustees voted 5-0 March 14 to revise the newest design for the Boyden Library.

Boyden Library Chairman Jeffrey Lovely said that a new design will presented to the public sometime in April.

The building committee expressed their concern over a curved glass design. Both committees have now agreed that the design would present problems and have agreed to not include it in the final plans.

William Yukna, chairman of the town's permanent municipal school and building committee, believed that "the project had morphed too far from what was originally presented at the town meeting."

However, at this Monday's meeting, a turn-around in tone came from the Library trustees when Lovely said that they are now "putting their trust in the building committee's judgment."
