Around Town: Trader Joe’s Opening, Update on Kraft Negotiations, State Primary and More

Here's a look at the happenings around Foxborough this week, Sept. 4-7.

The following meetings and events will be held in Foxborough this week.

Tuesday, Sept. 4:

Board of Selectmen, 7 p.m. at Andrew Gala Jr. Meeting Room at Town Hall: The Board of Selectmen will hear an update from selectman Lynda Walsh on the status of negotiations with the Kraft Organization. Selectmen are also expected to discuss the following:

  • Application for a new officer/director issuance of stock, transfer of stock and new stockholder of an annual all alcohol restaurant license at the 99 Restaurant located at 4 Fisher St.
  • Application for new officer/director at Red Robin Restaurant at 290 Patriot Place.
  • Update on Fire Department overtime project.
  • Continued discussion on North Street parking.

Thursday, Sept. 6:

State Primary Election, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at John J. Ahern Middle School Gym: The State Primary election will be held in Foxborough Thursday. If you are registered in a party, Democratic, Republican, or Green Rainbow, you must choose that party's ballot.  If you are registered as unenrolled, you may choose any one of the three ballots. On the ballot is the following:

Canoe River Aquifer Advisory Committee, 1 p.m. at Foxborough Public Safety Building: The committee will discuss plan to preserve a property that abuts the Canoe River and the program for CRAAC’s 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Sharon Community Center on Sept. 14. Friday, Sept. 7:

Trader Joe’s Opens at 8 a.m. Friday at 350 Patriot Place: When the ceremonial Lei is cut at 8 a.m. Friday, Trader Joe's will officially be open for business at its location in Foxborough. To help welcome Trader Joe's to the community, "Pat Patriot" and the 2012-13 Patriots cheerleaders will join Trader Joe’s Captain (store manager) David Ford, Regional VP Chris Maguire and the crew for a lei cutting ceremony to welcome new customers – Trader Joe’s style. The festivities will continue throughout the day with live music, free raffles for prizes, food demos and more.

Trader Joe's at Patriot Place is approximately 16,000 square feet – filling the space formerly occupied by Circuit City - and will be the 18th Massachusetts location – the first in the company’s chain that’s fully integrated into an NFL stadium site.

The new location – 350 Patriot Place, adjacent to - will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, is scheduled to offer beer and wine and will have plenty of customer parking spaces. The store will feature a festive décor that mixes traditional Trader Joe’s elements such as cedar covered walls and Hawaiian motifs, combined with a local flair that includes art celebrating the neighborhood and the hometown team, the New England Patriots.
