Around Town: Jake n JOES Issued Entertainment Licenses & More

Jake n JOES Sports Grille took another important step toward opening its Foxborough location Tuesday when the town’s Board of Selectmen issued the restaurant two entertainment licenses.

Jake n JOES is now licensed for seven-day entertainment and public entertainment on Sundays at its 25 Foxborough Blvd. location.

Entertainment permitted at the Foxborough sports grille will be the use of radio, TV (widescreen and cable) amplifiers and occasionally various instrumental music. Jake n JOES license applications showed the sports grille will occasionally have DJ and 2-3-piece band entertainment.

The restaurant’s Sunday live entertainment will be permitted from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Selectmen approved both license requests with a vote of 4-0. BOS chair James DeVellis recused himself from the review of the licenses because he has worked with the landowner of the property in the past.

It is still unknown when Jake N JOES Sports Grille plans to open its Foxborough location as the company continues to renovate the old Piccadilly Pub space. Jake n JOES representatives told Foxborough Patch in December the sports grille is expected to open at the end of January and hiring began just after the New Year.

Selectmen Issue Bass Pro Outdoor World 2013 Public Entertainment on Sunday License

Bass Pro Outdoor World at Patriot Place renewed its live entertainment on Sundays license for the Blue Fin Lounge in 2013. The license permits entertainment from noon to 10 p.m. for various events.

Selectmen Issue Two Hackie Licenses

Foxborough’s selectmen issued three-year hackie licenses to Hussein M. Shuman and Abdu N. Shuman of Norwood for service in Foxborough.

Beer and Wine to be Offered at Orpheum Theatre Event

Selectmen approved Bill Cunningham of Bay Colony/Orpheum Theatre’s request for a one-day beer and wine license at the School Street theatre on Jan. 26 from 6 to 10:30 p.m. for a psychic medium event entitled, “Postcards from the Edge.”

Annual Town Report Deadline Set

Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos reminded the board that 2012 Annual Town Reports are due by Feb. 15. DeVellis told the board he would draft the selectmen’s report and distribute it for board review by Feb. 1.
