HUGS of Foxborough 7th Annual Fundraiser Walk and Awareness Campaign, 9:30 to 11 a.m.

H.U.G.S. (Help Us Get Safe) of Foxborough is sponsoring its 7th Annual Fundraiser Walk around the Ahern Middle School track at 111 Mechanic St. from 9:30 to 11 a.m. for October's National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM).

HUGS is a nonprofit, volunteer organization established to assist individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

During the group’s 12 years existence it has been able to fulfill its mission towards making the community safer by educating the public regarding violence in relationships and by providing assistance to victims and families affected by domestic violence.

HUGS of Foxborough and the Foxborough community have come together during DVAM to take a stand against an issue that affects thousands of individuals each year regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.

The funds raised from this event will allow HUGS to continue to assist women and families with transportation, lock changes, food, personal care items, and clothing. It will also be able to continue its education and public awareness campaign to eliminate violence in Foxborough’s schools and community. This past year, HUGS sponsored an anti-bullying program at the Sage School and actively served on the Community Task Force to Address Bullying and Harassment.

HUGS is asking for your help to make this day a success. You are invited to join HUGS on Saturday as a volunteer, a walker, or you may put together a team. If you are unable to join the walk, you or your company can donate either prizes for a drawing or a financial contribution. Your financial contribution will not only make possible a successful and fun day, but will support HUGS’ goal to eliminate domestic/family violence within your community.

HUGS strive to achieve this goal through Awareness, Education and Prevention. Participants will be able to view the Clothes Line Project as they walk around the Ahern track.

Sponsor, volunteer and team/single person forms are available at registration on the day of the walk or in advance at local Foxborough merchants, the Foxborough Police Station, Foxborough Human Services & Council on Aging, and Brigham & Women's/Mass General Health Center in Foxborough.

Registration is free; tax deductible donations/sponsorships are due the day of the walk and all checks may be made payable to: H.U.G.S. FOXBORO, P.O. Box 466, Foxboro, MA 02035.
