Selectmen Approve Beer & License Request for Annual Kidney Run on May 11

Selectmen approved a one day beer and wine license for the Hyde Park Harley Riders second annual Kidney Run on May 11 at America’s Best Value Inn on Route 1 (105 Washington St.).

The event benefits The National Kidney Foundation serving New England. The Hyde Park Riders have a personal connection to the cause. On April 9, 2012, one of their members, Allan Katz, received a living kidney donation from his wife, Kathy, after living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) for over a decade.

Twenty-six million Americans live with CKD, however there are 73 million adults who are now at risk for developing kidney disease to diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of kidney disease.

The motorcycle run will be held rain or shine followed by an after-party at Fusion where attendees will enjoy live music, buffet, Kidney Run t-shirts and raffle items.

The 2012 Kidney Run raised over $5,000 for the NKF.
