UPDATE (4:35 p.m.): Mike Moura (@NEFireBuff) is reporting on Twitter that "National Grid is on the scene in #Attleboro, killing power at this time. Driver of truck was transported [to a hospital] in unknown condition."
Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Foxborough are currently working a crash between Exits 4 and 5 of Route 95 South in North Attleboro, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The roadway has been shut down on both the northbound and southbound sides due to downed power lines following an accident involving “a box truck with wires stretched across the front and another black tanker truck with wires caught on the top,” according to Fox 25.
The cause of the crash is under investigation but preliminary information provided by troopers on scene is that a truck struck a pole bringing down power lines across both sides of the highway, according to state police. The agencies at the scene assisting are MSP Troopers, Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), Attleboro and N. Attleboro Police and Fire Departments.
MSP says traffic travelling from Route 295 North bound is being diverted to Route 95 South.
MassDOT reported on Twitter there’s currently a 2-mile back-up each direction on I-95 Southbound at I-295. Detours have been set up and commuters should expect delays.
