Man Seriously Injured in Crash on Elm Street

Driver arraigned on OUI charge in Elm Street crash.

A single-car crash sent two men to the hospital early Sunday morning, according to the Sun Chronicle.

Two men were injured in the single-car crash on Elm Street at approximately 4 a.m. on Sunday. Both men were transported to area hospitals. The passenger of the car was severely injured, while the driver was arraigned in Wrentham District Court on charges of drunk driving Monday.

According to police, Shane T. McCarthy, a 2010 graduate of Foxboro High School, suffered severe head injuries after being thrown from the car and was in a medically induced coma at the Providence hospital.

Edward F. Ryan, 20, the driver and also a 2010 Foxboro High graduate, was arrested by police at the scene of the crash and taken to Norwood hospital under police supervision to be treated for minor injuries.

Ryan was arraigned in Wrentham District Court on charges of operating under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and OUI with a series injury.
