Region Roundup: Two Dead in Mansfield, Gun Pulled at Gas Station, Patriots Training Camp and More

Mansfield Police confirmed two men died on Thursday while at the Identity Festival at the Comcast Center.

The two, 19-year-old Connor Brandon of Acton and 27-year-old Dominic Impelizzieri of 266 Roxford Road North, Syracuse, N.Y., reportedly died after taking drugs at the concert.

Police said in a statement that Brandon was reported dead on Friday morning at the Boston Medical Center from the effects of several illegal drugs and alcohol found in his system.

mpelizzieri also had several illegal drugs and alcohol in his system. He had been resuscitated by emergency medical personnel at the concert, but later succumbed in the morning at Rhode Island Hospital.

Mansfield Police said they will continue to actively investigate the issue.

An argument at a Stoughton gas station escalated when a Raynham man allegedly threatened the operator of another vehicle with a gun, according to the Stoughton Police Department's Facebook page.

The alleged incident happened Friday morning, July 27, around 7 a.m. at the at the corner of Washington and Central Streets.

The operator of one vehicle, 26-year-old Frederick Baker, is said to have "pointed a firearm at and threatened the operator of the second vehicle," according to .

In response to a slew of fatal and near-fatal accidents on Route 24 in recent weeks, Massachusetts State Police are beefing up patrols in the area.

State Police announced Thursday morning that 11 additional patrols will be on Routes 24 and 195 from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday into Saturday and again on Saturday into Sunday for the remainder of the summer. The extra patrols will be in addition to regular patrols out of the Middleboro and Dartmouth barracks.

Police hope the additional patrols will crack down on unsafe drivers.

The Norton Police are charging James Hines, 79, of 120 West Main St. in Norton with assault by means of a dangerous weapon for allegedly threatening a mail carrier Tuesday at 12:20 p.m. Hines will be appearing in Attleboro District Court at later date.

According the Norton Police, Hines said he meant it as "a joke."

Trader Joe’s announced it plans to open at Patriot Place in Foxborough on Friday, Sept. 7 at 8 a.m. but will begin hiring on Monday, July 30.

Another season of New England Patriots football began Thursday afternoon in front of a record crowd as Foxborough's hometown team opened its 2012 NFL training camp.

Despite the threat of severe weather, Patch joined over 12,000 spectators at the practice fields of Gillette Stadium Thursday to catch the first public glimpse of the 2012-13 version of the Patriots.

The Sharon Commons lifestyle center progressed closer to construction -- with more pedestrian-friendly access -- Wednesday night, more than a month after the developers withdrew their previous application.

The Sharon Zoning Board of Appeals voted 3-0 for Sharon CF II LP's request for Phase 1 modifications. The developer now must return to the board regarding Phase 2, which involves attaching utilities to buildings, as well as site plan approval for the public amenities; as well as Phase 3, involving architectural issues.

The movie, named Backstreet Atlas, tells the tale of two friends, Adam Abada from New York City and Zach Baker from Boston who take on the challenge on skateboarding from the capital of the Commonwealth all the way down to New York City.

Starting in Roxbury, the skaters will make their way through local towns such as Walpole, Wrentham, Plainville, North Attleboro, and Attleboro before heading through Rhode Island and Connecticut en route to their final destination.
