Motor Vehicle Crash on Mechanic Street Sends Woman to Hospital

Foxborough Fire Captain David Healy said Friday night's two-vehicle accident on Mechanic Street "looked a lot worse" than it turned out to be.

A two-vehicle accident in front of Cumberland Farms on Mechanic Street Friday night was as close to a head-on collision as you can get, but thankfully, only one of the drivers sustained minor injury, according to Foxborough Fire Captain David Healy.

“One [minor injury] to a female driver,” Healy said. “She was taken to Norwood Hospital.”

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. and temporarily closed a small section of Mechanic Street while police and fire awaited the arrival of tow trucks to clear the vehicles from the scene.

“Both drivers were out of their vehicles when [Foxborough Fire] arrived on scene,” Healy said. “First thought was one of the drivers pulled out of [Cumberland Farms] but he didn’t. …. It looks a lot worse than it was. The vehicles were going in opposite directions.”

Foxborough police said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
