Understandable Chris after today's tragic events. Was wondering if anyone else went and what was offered.

Just off the top of my head real quick: Mayor said he hired 12 new police officers (three are coming on and nine are going through the academy) announced the press conference I also wrote about yesterday re: wiretapping; adding he was working to bring a group to the city that works with troubled youth as well as those in "major players" in the city. Working on installing a new system into which private businesses and organizations can send any video feeds on their property to the police department, which can be activated in a period of emergency. Molis also spoke about some recent crime in the area, and praised the 'heroism' of the detectives who responded to that suicide call near Malden Center last week. I did leave around 7 so I may have missed some Q&A.

si is the official blog where we are allowed to criticize chief Wiggums now. He could not even be bothered to make this meeting and then the events of yesterday, sad excuse of a chief. "Major Players" in the city, If "Major Players" mean gangs, I thought it was of Chief's opinion there are no gangs in malden and all the crime is random to those of you say we have to get used to this crime wave being the norm, I disagree, Lets get someone in the police dept to track the rise in violence with how the city has changed over the years and maybe we should reverse dome of those changes if it corresponds to the increase in crime, say like Hi Rise apt buildings, large ares of govt subsidized low income (notice i said large areas, not eliminate all) Did the crime increase when a large section of housing suddenly became govt subsidized, when a certain building was built, certain business came into town,... You know good old fashioned research with modern day technology, We do know the last Mayor was happy he could not use a computer, lets change that and update the police chief

I got a question, I am not a law enforcement expert, but when you drive, walk around or just live in the city, and you go buy businesses such as restaurants and dollar bodega stores that never seem to have any customers in them , you got to wonder how are they making any money. Fencing stolen goods, drugs, laundering money.... And a lot of those stores have been in business for many years. .. Just asking... Like I said I am no expert but you gotta wonder chief....
