44 violent crimes were reported in Foxboro last year, according to according statistics released in the annual town report released earlier this year.
The 2012 number is up from last year's total of 29 violent crimes.
Violent crime, as defined by the FBI, includes murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.
Foxboro reported seven rapes, two robberies and 35 assaults.
In addition to violent crimes, Foxboro reported 73 burglaries, 131 instances of larceny or theft and six motor vehicle thefts.
