Foxborough Woman Faces Embezzlement Charges

Dorothea Bulger of Foxborough is accused of taking over $83,000 from her employer.

A Foxborough woman charged with larceny over $250 has pleaded innocent to the charges after being accused of taking money from her employer.

Appearing Wrentham District Court on a summons on June 12, Dorothea Bulger, 63, is accused of taking over $83,000 from her employer Mayfair Reality and Development over a five-year period.

After entering a plea of innocent, Bulger is free on her own recognizance.

According to court documents, Bulger allegedly took $83,571.50 from the company through 75 individual transactions. It is suspected the longtime Mayfair Reality employee of 16-years may have taken over $100,000 over a five-year period as documents are still being collected.

Looking at five years of deposit data, it was discovered that Bulger allegedly gave a receipt to tenants who paid their rent in cash but kept the money instead of depositing it.

The missing money was discovered on March 1 after irregular payment entries were discovered in the Mayfair Realty Database, specifically cash payments that were entered into the system wrong and never deposited.

To cover up the missing money, records were manipulated to make it look like the rent money had been paid and deposited.

Bulger is expected back in court for a pre-trial hearing on August 13.
