Foxborough Teen Cited for Monday’s Head-On Crash on Rte. 140

Foxborough Chief of Police Edward O'Leary said Adam Chochrek, 17, of Foxborough has been cited for various traffic violations following Monday's two-car head-on collision that sent four people to hospitals.

The Foxborough teen driving the has been cited for “various traffic violations,” according to Foxborough Chief of Police Edward O’Leary.

Adam Chochrek, 17, of Foxborough was cited for traffic violations following his role in Monday’s head-on collision that injured himself, two of his passengers and the driver of the vehicle he struck at the intersection of Main and Pierce Streets, according to Foxborough Police. O’Leary did not provide details to the violations.

“Mr. Chochrek was cited various traffic violations,” O’Leary said. … “It’s unfortunate that perhaps driver inexperience had played a part in [Cochrek’s] decision making.”

According to O’Leary, Chochrek was taking a left turn on Main Street at the intersection of Route 140 and Pierce Street when his red Honda Accord struck a blue Ford Escape operated by 40-year-old Foxborough resident Kerry Wallace, head-on.

“It appears that [Chochrek] made a left-hand turn across [Wallace’s] line of traffic, causing the collision,” O’Leary said.

Chochrek was transporting two of his teammates to a 5:45 p.m. game in Franklin when the accident occurred around 5 p.m. The game was postponed following the incident as all four people involved were transported to various hospitals.

Wallace and one of Chochrek’s passengers were each medflighted to Boston Medical from the practice field of to be treated for traumatic injuries, according to Foxborough Fire Capt. Ed Noonan. The other two victims were transported by ambulances to two different hospitals. One was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and the other taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, according to police and fire reports.

O’Leary said its fortunate that all four victims appear to be doing OK as of Wednesday.

“Thankfully, I believe everybody is out of the hospital,” O’Leary said. “I know the driver of the other vehicle, Kerry Wallace, was in [Wednesday] to speak to officer Charles Gallagher, who was the investigating officer, just to recover some of her property that we held on to because of the crash and her transport to the hospital.”

O’Leary credited the work of Foxborough Police and Fire units for responding and acting quickly to the situation.

“Both police and fire services worked well together,” O’Leary said. “They initiated medflight for Ms. Wallace to get her to emergency care.”
