Foxborough Boy Struck by Truck on Baker Street Released from Hospital Thursday

Christopher Knight, the 12-year-old boy struck by a landscaping truck on Baker Street while riding his bicycle in August, was released from Tufts Medical Center Thursday as he continues to recover from serious injury.

It is the type of news many in the Foxborough community have been waiting for since Foxborough resident Christopher Knight, 12, was Medflighted to Tufts Medical Center .

Knight, according to a family friend, has been released from the hospital Thursday and will continue his recovery from home.

“Chris [Knight] is coming home [Thursday],” said Traci Longa, a Foxborough resident and family friend of the Knights. “He still has more work to do for his recovery but will be much happier at home. The Knight family truly appreciates the kind words, positive thoughts and generosity they have received over the past couple weeks.”

Longa said have started a care calendar to help the Knight family with the Chris Knight’s recovery.

“We have started this calendar to provide meals over the next month,” Longa said. “If you prefer not to bring a meal but, would like to help in other ways, (i.e. gift cards, etc.), you can send them directly to Sue Knight at the address stated on the calendar.”

Chris Knight has been recovering from surgery after reportedly suffering head trauma, internal injuries and several skin abrasions from the Aug. 27 accident.

The driver of the landscaping truck that struck Knight, Foxborough resident Sean Fitzgerald, 28, was questioned by Foxborough Police following the incident and released with no charges being filed.

"A member of the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Enforcement Section assisted in the investigation and cited Mr. Fitzgerald for a commercial vehicle infraction," Foxborough Police said in a press release. "Mr. Fitzgerald was not cited for any moving or traffic violation in regards to the crash."

However, the owner of the J.Jerome Landscaping Services truck in North Easton was cited for vehicle safety infractions.
