College Football at Gillette Causes Some Headaches for Police

The Colonial Clash at Gillette on Oct. 22 saw 64 people taken into police custody.

The UMass Minutemen and The University of New Hampshire, one of New England's best football rivalries, faced off Saturday, Oct. 22 in the annual Colonial Clash, held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

The game day action included tailgating parties, marching bands, pep rallies and for some, a trip to the police station.

The college football game draws in a much smaller crowd than a professional football game, however the number of police custodies is higher. 64 people were taken into police custody compared to 48 at the previous weekend match-up between the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys. On Saturday, Police took 48 fans into protective custody for intoxication and 10 out of 16 criminal arrests were for minors in possession of alcohol, and one for providing alcohol to a minor, the Sun Chronicle reports.
