Chicopee Woman Sues Patriots and NFL For Husband's Death

A Chicopee woman whose husband suffered a fatal heart attack at the Patriots' 2010 home opener at Gillette Stadium has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the New England Patriots, the NFL, and others.

Kimberly Chartier of Chicopee is seeking at least $10 million according to the Boston Globe.

According to the suit, Chartier's husband  Jeffrey Chartie, suffered a heart attack before the Patriots' game against the Bengals on Sept. 12, 2010 after getting into a confrontation with a security guard identified as Arthur Sherman according to the Springfield Republican.

Sherman, who is an employee of the stadium's security staff TeamOps, is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit.

The suit adds that their 6-year old son Tedy was invited on to the field by two NFL officials but Jeffery was confrontation by Sherman when he was questioned about his son being on the field.

The confrontation lasted about 15 minutes and the suit alleges that it led to Jeffrey suffering a heart attack.

NPS, which operates Gillette Stadium and TeamOps were also named in the lawsuit.
