Bass Pro Shops 'Open for Business' Sunday After Saturday's Fire

did not prevent the store from opening on time Sunday morning.

In fact, due to the efforts of Foxborough Police, Fire and Patriot Place personnel, manager Walter Grammer said the store was able to open a little bit earlier than its 10 a.m. Sunday schedule.

“We are very thankful for the quick response of the fire department,” said Grammer. “They were able to contain everything expediently and we were able to close the store [Saturday] night, buttoned up tight and secure and open up a little early [Sunday] so that was great.”

and responded to Bass Pro Shops shortly before 9 p.m. after Patriot Place personnel reported smoke from the back of the building and alerted Grammar. The fire, according to Grammar, took place in the back of the store.

“We salute our partners at Patriot Place,” Grammar said. “The Team-Ops group noticed [smoke] on the outside of the building and alerted us even before the fire alarms. We salute their partnership, they did a terrific job by alerting us and the fire department so we could take the appropriate action in ensuring our customers and associates evacuated the building calmly.”

There were no injuries reported from Saturday’s fire, which was put out by Foxborough and area firefighters at 10:15 p.m., according to an article in the Sun Chronicle. WPRI.com reported the fire was “an outside exterior wall fire, which caused minor damage to the building.”

Because of the quick response, Grammar said there was not a lot of damage from the fire or water damage from the sprinklers.

“No sprinkler or water damage because of the quick response,” Grammar said. “So proud of [Foxborough Police and Fire] and thankful [for their response.”

In addition to the efforts by Patriot Place personnel and Foxborough Fire Department, Grammar pointed out the “terrific job” done by Foxborough Police.

“We were blown away by their response,” he said.

Foxborough received mutual aid on the two-alarm fire from the neighboring towns of Norwood, Sharon, Walpole, Plainville and Mansfield. With the combined efforts of these departments, Grammar said the store was able to open Sunday morning at “100 percent.”

“We are thankful for the fire departments for doing just a terrific job and again our partners at Patriot Place,” he said. “We are ready to do business.”
