Attleboro Man At Large After Allegedly Stealing Foxborough Man's Vehicle

Jose Silvestre of Attleboro is still active after stealing a vehicle from the Canoe River Campgrounds.

An Attleboro man was issued a summons arrest by Mansfield Police Monday after he allegedly stole a Foxborough man’s vehicle but has yet to be apprehended, according to police.

Jose Silvestre, 38, of Attleboro was issued a summons arrest Monday for larceny of a motor vehicle and felony larceny. The owner of the vehicle – a Foxborough resident – called police to report 30 minutes prior to the call, Silvestre had stolen his 2004 Kia Optima from the Canoe River Campgrounds.

Mansfield Operations Lt. Samuel Thompson Jr. said that Silvestre knew the caller.

“He told the [The car’s owner] that he was going out to smoke a cigarette and he just took his car and left,” Thompson said. “The guy who owned the car knew him, and said he had a drug problem."

The caller stated that Silvestre had planned to drive to Providence, R.I., to pawn the contents of the vehicle, which included a laptop, cell phone and other items.

A BOLO (be on the lookout) advisory was posted to the Providence Police in the area where Silvestre was known to purchase narcotics.

Thompson said that a summons arrest was issued for Silvestre but, to his knowledge, he has not yet been apprehended. He added that the vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as stolen.
