Aaron Hernandez Indicted in Connection With South End Double Murder

Hernandez is expected to be arraigned at a later date.

A Suffolk County Grand Jury has indicted former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez for a double murder in Boston's South End in July 2012, MyFoxBoston reported Thursday

Boston Police began investigating Hernandez's possible connection with the double homicide last summer, not long after the former Pats tight end was arrested and charged with the June 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd in North Attleboro. He is accused of shooting Lloyd along with two associates near an industrial park in the area of Hernandez's home, and was indicted in that case by a grand jury on six charges.

The South End murder occurred on July 16, 2012, when Boston Police said a gray SUV with Rhode Island license plates pulled up to a silver BMW at the intersection of Shawmut Avenue, Tremont and Herald streets, and an occupant opened fire, killing two and injuring another.

District Attorney Dan Conley, in a press conference Thursday morning, said there is no evidence to suggest the victims knew Hernandez before that night.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said Furtado and Abreu were just two, young innocent victims and that it was a chance encounter with Hernandez that lead to their deaths

The indictment claims that authorities believe Hernandez killed the victims before the start of the 2012-2013 NFL season, and he is expected to be arraigned at a later date, according to MyFoxBoston.
