In less than two weeks, the high fall sports season will be officially underway in Foxborough but the preparation for 2012 has already begun for the Warriors’ eight athletic programs.
And with every new season comes a renewed sense of hope and excitement that this could be the year one or more of these programs puts together a special season and wins it all.

The Foxborough High School football team, coming off a 4-7 record in 2011, scrimmaged Catholic Memorial on Saturday and will scrimmage Swampscott on Saturday, Sept. 1 before opening the regular season on Sept. 7 in East Longmeadow. The Warriors are in the middle of training camp, which began Monday, Aug. 20 as they look to put together a winning season in a tough Hockomock League.
Boys’ soccer is eager to improve on a seven win 2011 campaign, the girls’ soccer team, under the direction of first-year varsity coach Kaitlin Lamothe-Vaughn, hopes to rebound from a 13-loss season a year ago. Former varsity girls’ soccer coach, Caitlin Annicelli Brown, was named the school’s athletic director in July to replace Craig Najarian, who resigned in June to take over as athletic director at Holliston High School.
The Foxborough boys’ golf team won seven matches in 2011, the field hockey team won six, the girls’ volleyball team managed seven and the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams have room for major improvement after disappointing seasons.
