Take back our Town!!

A lot has been written and debated, recently, about the denial of the liquor license transfer up at Patriot Place. The three selectmen that voted against the transfer all stated that they had no issue with Splitsville but did have an issue with the inclusion of Howl at the Moon. Did any of these three selectmen even visit a Howl at the Moon location prior to their denial, NO. There is one right down the street in Boston, just a short 30 minute drive to investigate a $100,000 annual revenue business. No, they briefly looked at their web site and “Googled” it, what can you really learn about a venue that way? “Selectmen voting against the transfer continued to express their concerns over the use of the Howl at the Moon brand and the impact on public safety despite assurances from Splitsville officials and police Chief Ed O’Leary.” How can these three selectmen, in good conscience, use “public safety” as an excuse to deny the transfer when our own Chief vetted the place and came up with a plan for “policing” the venue, going as far to say it would “fit right in”?? Do not be fooled, this denial of the liquor license transfer is all about the money. Ms. Brue even went as far as asking for payment just prior to the vote and when she did not get the promise of additional mitigation funds proceeded to vote against the transfer. Please note, there were no additional security measures that were turned down by the applicant, just the lack of a payment, as if $125,000 payment would make the place safer for the public!! Please sign the petition to have the selectmen revisit the liquor license transfer!!
