HUGS Foxboro Promoting Awareness

January is National Stalking Awareness Month, a time to focus on a crime that affects over 6.6 million Americans in one year.
HUGS Foxboro (Help Us Get Safe) has joined forces with the Foxboro Police Department, Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center at Patriot's Place, Foxboro Human Services and Council on Aging, New Hope, victim service providers, criminal justice officials, and concerned citizens throughout the Foxboro area to observe National Stalking Awareness Month and to support efforts in promoting awareness about stalking.
HUGS Foxboro is a non-profit volunteer organization established to assist individuals and families affected by domestic violence. For the past twelve years we have diligently worked towards making our community safer by educating the public regarding violence in relationships and by providing assistance to victims and families affected by domestic violence.

In February, we will also be continuing our educational campaign during National Teen Dating Violence Month to promote awareness of teen dating violence issues with the goal of eliminating violence in our schools and community. HUGS will be sponsoring a presentation of the dating violence prevention original play, The Yellow Dress, to both the senior and junior classes at Foxboro High School on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. The presentation will be performed by Deana's Educational Theater (DET). The Yellow Dress is a dramatic one-woman play based on the stories of young women who were victims of dating violence. The carefully constructed program stimulates thought-provoking discussion about relationships; a topic important to every young person’s life.

If you or someone you know is being stalked or physically or emotionally abused contact your local law enforcement, the above mentioned victim advocates or the HUGS phone line at 508-698-8784. Please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
