Stephen J. Zielinski Dies Unexpectedly at 86; Calling Hours to be Held Monday

Zielinski was on the special police auxiliary for the Foxborough Police Department.

Stephen Joseph Zielinski, age 86, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 22, 2013. He was the son of the late Stephen and Julia (Sullivan) Zielinski.

Stephen was born on Aug. 2, 1926 in Dorchester. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He proudly served on the USS WASP, Monteray and Tarawa and is an atomic veteran from Admiral William H.P. Blandy’s Atomic Taskforce at Bikini Atoll. He served in the United States Navy for over 22 years.

Zielinski was employed by the Boston Gas Local 12003 and was on the special police auxiliary for the Foxborough Police Department. He was an athlete, avid sports fan and played Park League football and baseball and played ball for St. Paul’s Church in Dorchester. Zielinski was a member of the Foxborough American Legion and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Foxborough for over 58 years. He married his wife Catherine (Foley) on April 23, 1955 at St. Paul’s Church in Dorchester. He enjoyed traveling with his wife on cruises and to Europe.

Loving father of Daniel Zielinski of Norwood, Patricia Greene and her husband Martin of Mansfield, Theresa Anderson of Attleboro and her late husband Michael, John and his wife BethAnn Zielinski of Foxborough, AnnMarie Zielinski of Foxborough and Robert Zielinski of Foxborough. Devoted grandfather of Nicole, Kristen, Catherine, Jackie, Michael, Julie and Michelle.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, April 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter St., Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxborough.
