Obituary: William Holbrook Burtt was a Foxborough Resident Since 1961

William Holbrook Burtt was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who passed away Thursday at the age of 77. He had been a Foxborough resident since 1961 and his obituary was courtesy of Roberts & Sons Funeral Home.

William Holbrook Burtt, age 77, passed on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at Norwood Hospital surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was the son of the late Nelson and Helen (Long) Burtt.

William was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on April 14, 1935. He was a graduate of Sharon High School, Class of 1953 and was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts School of Engineering, Class of 1957. He and his wife Marie were married in West Mansfield on June 25, 1960. He has been a resident of Foxborough since 1961.

William was a senior engineer for the Foxboro Company, retiring in 1987. He has been a member of the St. Alban’s Lodge, A.F. and A. M. for the past 37 years. He was a longtime member of the Foxborough Republican Town Committee. He was a former Sunday school teacher and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Bethany Congregational Church in Foxborough. He was also a former member of the Planning Board for the Town of Foxborough from 1966 to 1975. He was an avid follower of politics, enjoyed reading history and an enthusiastic photographer since his teen years.

Beloved husband of Marie (Szabo) Burtt. Loving father of Carol M. Puricelli of Woonsocket and Linda H. Burtt of Foxborough. Devoted grandfather of David W. Puricelli and his wife Daniela Migliano Puricelli and Christopher Puricelli.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxborough. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
