Obituary: Remembering Frederick Lewis Haarer Jr.; US Navy Vet and Longtime Foxborough Resident

Frederick Lewis Haarer Jr., 76, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. He was a Foxborough resident for 47 years, a veteran of the US Navy and a retired bus driver for the Foxborough Public Schools.

Frederick Lewis Haarer, Jr., age 76, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.

Born on Aug. 20, 1936 in Millis, he was the son of the late Frederick and Helen (Cheever) Haarer. He attended Boston schools and after graduation served in the United States Navy, where he met his wife, Margaret. The two were married on Aug. 23, 1958 in Washington, D.C.

A Foxborough resident for the past 47 years, he was a printer/proofreader for the George H. Dean Company for 40 years. He also was a bus driver for the Foxboro School System for many years. Upon his retirement, he worked as a chauffeur for New England Coach and the Shackley Limousine Service.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Foxborough and the Norwood Elks.

He enjoyed trips with his wife to Aruba and was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.

Beloved husband of the late Margaret (Corron) Haarer. Loving Father of Julie Haarer of Foxborough, Donna Paton and her husband David of Norton, Frederick Haarer, III of Greer, South Carolina, Kathryn Haarer of Foxborough and Kimbery Hovey and her husband Scott of Middleborough. Devoted Grandfather of Brittney, David, Daniel, Deana, Ryan, Eric and Julia. Great Grandfather of Hailey, Tyler and Bella. Brother of Helen Eldracher of Norwood and Sandra Hope of Florida. Also survived by many neices and nephews.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Foxborough. Interment to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxborough.
