Francesco “Frank” Iavarone, age 85, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Ciro and Antonietta (Magaldi) Iavarone.

Frank was born in New York City on Jan. 5, 1927. Frank was educated at PS 30 in New York and graduated from Aeronautic and Drafting High School in 1945. He proudly served his country in the United States Army of Occupation in Japan at the conclusion of WWII. He and his wife Dorothy were married in Bel Air, MD on Sept. 22, 1947 and enjoyed over 65 years of marriage.

He was owner and president of Boston Blackboard Company of Foxborough for 30 years. Over the years he donated his time, money and help to many local causes in Foxborough. He was a Past Commander of the Foxborough American Legion Post 93 and member of the Foxboro V.F.W. Post 2626. After his retirement he and his wife spent winters in Hollywood, Fla. and summers in Foxborough. He loved flea markets, both going to and working at them.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (Bolton) Iavarone. Loving father of Jerry Iavarone and his wife Lynne and Maria and her husband Jack Quinn. Devoted grandfather of Jarrod, David, Frank, Celene Iavarone and Alan and Sashanna Hagopian and John and Gina Quinn and twelve great grandchildren. Brother of Guido and Gino Iavarone.
