Michael Notarangelo, World War II Veteran, Dies at 89

He was employed as Linotype operator at Plimpton Press in Norwood for many years as well as Timothy's Catering of Canton.

Michael L. Notarangelo 89, of Norwood and Hyannisport, died Wednesday, July 16.

Born in Norwood, July 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Celeste (Poce) Notarangelo. He was the beloved husband of Rose (Bacvar) Notarangelo of Norwood; the loving father of Marlene Bradbury and her husband Jack of Norwood, Lawrence and his wife Christine of Southboro, Michael J. and his wife Marcia of Norwood, James and his wife Nancy of Foxboro; the cherished grandfather of Michelle Bradbury, Christine Bradbury Rose and her husband Bryan; Amanda, Michael A., Nicole, Matthew, Melissa, Steven, Thomas “TJ”, Kathryn, and Jaime Notarangelo; great-grandfather of John and James Rose; the dear brother of Donata Magnani of California, Antanette Notarangelo of Norwood and the late Caroline Bullock, Mary Angellis, and Joan Purpura; and the uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Michael graduated from Norwood High School class of 1943, served the US Navy during WWII, and was employed as Linotype operator at Plimpton Press in Norwood for many years as well as Timothy’s Catering of Canton. He was a thoughtful and generous man who enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren on Cape Cod.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, at 9:00 AM at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St., NORWOOD, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AMat St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 20, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
