Foxborough Obituary: Gustave Derweduwen

Gustave Derweduwen, 93, passed away on Sept. 28. He was a Foxborough resident for five years, a beloved father and grandfather.

Gustave Derweduwen, age 93, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the son of the late Francois and Hermance (Vanherek) Derweduwen.

Gustave was born in Brussels on May 9, 1919 and lived for many years in Geneva, Switzerland. He has been a Foxborough resident for the past five years until moving to Hearthstone Alzheimer Care in Brockton.

Gustave was a veteran of WWII in the Belgium Army. After the war, Gustave worked for the UNRA in Belgium. He then worked as a budget and finance officer for the World Health Organization, a branch of the United Nations until his retirement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed world travel. He also enjoyed playing chess, soccer and fencing.

Husband of the late Mia (Verheyden) Derweduwen. Loving father of Christiane and her husband Nagy Accad of Foxborough. Grandfather of Emmanuelle Accad of Boston and Stephan Accad of Franklin.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxborough. Burial will be private.
