Carmella Angeline Echols Dies at 91; Lived in Foxborough for 56 Years

Longtime Foxborough resident Carmella Angeline (Toppi) Echols was a former dining room manager at the Doolittle Home.

Carmella Angeline (Toppi) Echols, died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at her home surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta (Dalphonse) Toppi.

Carmella was born on Dec. 14, 1921 in Gorham, N.H. She and her husband William were married on Feb. 5, 1944 at St. Joseph’s Church in Athens, Ga. She has been a Foxborough resident for the past 56 years.

Carmella was a former dining room manager at the Doolittle Home in Foxborough. She enjoyed a good game of cards and cooking Italian meals for friends and family. She also enjoyed cake making, needlepoint and doll making. She loved music and dancing and performing in minstrel shows. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, the “Belcherettes” and “Golden Girls.” She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Beloved wife of 69 years of William H. Echols, Jr. Loving mother of William Echols and his wife Kathleen of Foxborough, Deborah and her husband Richard Celeste of Marston Mills and Cynthia and her husband Andrew Jamieson of Foxborough. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and four on the way.
