Calling Hours for Retired Foxborough Police Officer Paul Doherty is Monday; Funeral is Tuesday

Doherty lived in Foxborough for 45 years and served the community as a Foxborough police officer for over 37 years, retiring in 2003.

., 72, died unexpectedly at his home in Foxborough on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. He was the son of the late Bernard and Winifred (Carlin) Doherty.

Paul was born in Jamaica Plain on Oct. 10, 1940 and was a graduate of Holy Cross Cathedral High School in Boston. He was also a graduate of Dean Junior College in Franklin. He and his wife Lorraine were married at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Jamaica Plain on April 4, 1964. He has been a resident of Foxborough for the past 45 years.

Paul was a retired patrolman and court prosecutor for the Town of Foxborough, retiring in 2003. He was also a former news photographer for the former Boston Herald-Traveler from 1962-1972.

Paul was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed contributing his police work charitably to the community of Foxborough.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time at his property in New Hampshire and trying his luck with a scratch ticket or with a trip to the local casino.

Beloved husband of Lorraine F. Doherty. Loving father of Patricia and her husband Michael Lancaster of Crofton, MD, Paul Doherty, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Centerville, MD and Karen and her husband Michael Laracy of Foxborough. Devoted grandfather of Sarah and Rachel Lancaster, Michael and Kaitlyn Laracy and Connor and Kyle Doherty.

Brother of George and his wife Dorothy Doherty of Waltham, Mary Doherty of Foxborough, William and his wife Mary Doherty of Quincy and the late Bernard and his wife Virginia who lives in Quincy, the late John and his wife Anne, the late Edward Doherty and the late Sally D’Entermont and her husband Paul who lives in Norwood. Also survived by his best buddy’s pets, Mickey and Duffy who loved their papa.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter St., Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxborough.
