2. As of this April the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has allowed your pharmacist to administer 12 different vaccines in store. Most people’s insurances will pay for vaccinations either at the doctor or now at the pharmacy. The importance of this news is that now you do not need an appointment to get a vaccination and by law the pharmacy must fax to your doctor the immunization record so that it may be filed with your complete medical records. Doctors like this new arrangement because they now do not have to maintain a stock of expensive vaccines and to keep the necessary logs of temperature within the refrigerator and freezer that are required today.  All certified immunizing pharmacists are required to take a course on immunization and to complete the C.P.R. certification course for medical professionals. So the next time you need to have a vaccination any person that is 18 and older may just go to their local pharmacy and have it done there. (This information was provided by the Rite Aid Pharmacy in Norwood.)
