Wine Nation Sets Its Sights on Patriot Place

Retail chain, Wine Nation, wants to expand to Patriot Place.

Wine Nation Inc., a retail chain described as "Wine, Beer and Gourmet Food for the Wine Enthusiast," has applied to open a liquor store at Patriot Place, the Sun Chronicle is reporting.

Wine Nation Inc., recently entered into an agreement to purchase the alcohol package store license from William Varkas at Central Wine and Spirits, located on 50 Central St. in Foxborough.

In an application submitted to town hall, Varkas agreed to sell the license, remaining stock and equipment in Central Wine and Spirits to Wine Nation for $325,000.

Wine Nation Inc. would get financial backing from a Kraft Group entity, NPP Development Holdings, LLC.

Before any deals are final, Foxborough's Board of Selectmen and the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission would have to approve the license transfer.

A public hearing with selectmen will be held on the liquor transfer.

If approved, Wine Nation would look to set up shop in the south plaza of Patriot Place in a 20,331-square-foot space.

According to it's website, Wine Nation "is a wine lifestyle superstore, focused on the core product offerings of wine and beer." Along with it's core offerings, Wine Nation sells a selection of gourmet foods, gifts and selected seasonal items.
