Waxy O'Connor's in Jeopardy of Losing Liquor License Following Most Recent Alleged Violation

Waxy O'Connor's Irish Pub is allegedly in violation of its liquor license for the fourth time since 2011 after Foxborough Police reported the establishment served alcohol to a minor during a September compliance check operation in town.

The alleged violation could lead to significant consequences for the Main Street establishment if found guilty.

"If [Waxy's] gets hit with a fourth violation then they will be out of business," said Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos following a May 2011 public hearing in which Foxborough's Board of Selectmen suspended Waxy's liquor license for 10 days after the establishment was found guilty of three separate offenses in 2011.

More Concertgoers Sue Foxborough for ‘Improper’ Practice of Protective Custody During Gillette Stadium Events

Two additional people are joining the class action lawsuit challenging the town of Foxborough’s policy of holding people in protective custody during Gillette Stadium events, according to the Law Offices of Howard Friedman.

The suit alleges over a thousand people were held in protective custody unlawfully because they were intoxicated but not incapacitated, according to a press release issued by the Law Offices of Howard Friedman.

Michael Burgess, 42, a police officer in Massachusetts and Lindsey Schmidt, 23 of Portland, Maine have joined original plaintiffs Dr. Timothy Dutton and Paul Weldner in a lawsuit against the town and Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary filed on Sept. 24.

Foxborough Resident Keeps Son’s Spirit Alive Through Charitable Foundation

It’s been nearly two-and-a-half years since Jeff Parker lost his battle to melanoma at the age of 25 but his friendly and caring spirit lives on through a foundation created in his name by family and friends.

“Our mission really revolves around Jeff,” said Jeff’s mother and Foxborough resident, Roberta Parker of the Jeff Parker Foundation. “He always gave back to his community. … He was just one of those people that was well known. People liked him; he was real friendly.”

Inspired by Jeff, members of the Jeff Parker Foundation are committed to helping children and families affected by cancer.

Famous Sub Shop Coming Soon to Patriot Place

Foxborough’s list of great sub shops in town is about to get longer with the addition of Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop at Patriot Place.

Capriotti’s is expected to open its first restaurant location in Massachusetts at 282 Patriot Place by the end of 2012, according to a press release Monday.

The famous sandwich shop is best known for its signature sub, the “Bobbie,” which is made with turkey pulled right off the bone, cranberry sauce, homemade stuffing, and a touch of mayo.

The "Bobbie" has been voted “Greatest Sandwich in America” by thousands of AOL readers, according to the press release.

How Many Millionaires Live in Foxborough?

According to data compiled by the Boston Business Journal, Foxborough ranks 107th in the state out of the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts in terms of the number of millionaire filers.

In 2010, there were 18 millionaire filers in Foxborough, which is roughly one millionaire filer for every 936 residents in town.

Foxborough to Host Community Forum for Child Sexual Abuse Prevention

In light of the recent disclosures of sexual abuse in Foxborough, the Foxborough Public Schools, police department and Hockomock Area YMCA has come together to offer a community prevention forum for child sexual abuse prevention.

The forum, which will be held at the Ahern Middle School auditorium on Monday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m., will provide an important opportunity to bring the community together to discuss the issues of child sexual abuse, learn more about its devastating impact and to find out together as a community, what Foxborough can do to prevent it.

Taylor Swift Adds Second Show to July Concert at Gillette Stadium

Due to overwhelming demand for tickets to Taylor Swift’s recently announced RED Tour, the six-time GRAMMY winner has announced she will be adding a second show at Gillette Stadium next summer.

Swift will play Gillette Stadium on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 in 2013. Tickets for both shows go on sale Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com. Veterans have given so much to this country and on Saturday, the Foxborough community gathered in the high school auditorium to say “thank you.”

The town’s Veterans Day ceremony featured music from the Serenading Seniors and messages of thanks and appreciation to the town’s veterans and current active military service members.

Among the messages shared Saturday, it was the one from a Foxborough High School senior that perfectly put into perspective the true meaning of Veterans Day.

“We wouldn’t be living in the Land of the Free if it weren’t for the brave and those brave people are the veterans,” said FHS Senior Emma Carleton.

Disabled Military Veterans Enjoy Special Patriots Experience at Gillette Stadium

In recognition of Veterans Day, CVS Caremark paid homage to nearly 50 disabled military veterans from across New England, including Foxborough resident Andres Burgos, by treating them to a football skills camp at Gillette Stadium in partnership with the New England Patriots.

The CVS Caremark/New England Patriots Veterans Skills Camp paired Patriots Super Bowl champions with veterans from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire for a day of fun and skills training at Gillette Stadium.

Foxborough Police Officers Complete Emergency Driving Course

Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary announced that four members of his department received training at an Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) held at the U.S. Coast Guard facility in Bourne on Oct. 10-11.

The free preventative training program was designed to enhance police officers’ driving skills, ensure safety of both officers and the public, and save money on the town’s insurance premiums.
