 Police Logs: Hanover Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges Following Assault in Foxborough

Roger L. Coutu, 47 of 27 Phillips St., Hanover, was arrested and charged with assault to murder (choking victim) and attempted murder following an assault on Garfield Street in Foxborough. The assault did not involve a weapon of any kind, according to police.

'Tricky Snowstorm' Leads to Frustrating Morning for Foxborough Commuters

A morning storm covered Foxborough with nearly three inches of snow, making for a long and frustrating ride into work for many commuters.

Foxborough DPW Director Roger Hill explained the frustrating commute was a result of the timing of the morning storm.

 “The storm was kind of tricky,” Hill said. “I got called at 4 a.m. and it was snowing but it was just pinpoint flakes and there wasn’t even an inch at that time but we got the sanders out and salt down because we needed to condition the roads underneath the snow. … At about 6:15 a.m. the storm changed. We really started getting fast snow with big flakes. I had called all the plow operators in at that time.”

Foxborough to Cancel March Special Town Meeting; Move Sewer Vote to May

Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos told selectmen Tuesday that Norton and Mansfield won't be ready to move forward with the Intermunicipal Agreement (IMA) to form a Regional Sewer District until after their respective Annual Town Meetings.

That means the scheduled March 4 Special Town Meeting to vote on the IMA will no longer need to take place.

Cindi's Jewelry: Making Memories and Jewelry for over 20 Years in Foxborough

Cindi Haddad-Drew has been in the jewelry business for over 20 years and the one thing she learned about it was the importance of staying power.

“Part of what I’m doing is I’m creating pieces that people are going to hand down,” she said. “Significant pieces that when someone receives them they’re going to remember.”

Haddad-Drew, a Foxborough resident since before she can remember, is the owner and operator of Cindi's Diamond and Jewelry Gallery.

She said she started in the business in 1989 at the Manufacturers Jewelry Outlet in North Attleboro. Three years later she opened up shop in Foxborough, and since then she’s been making and designing pieces for people to cherish and remember.

Work on Turf Field Project Expected to Begin by End of January

Turf’s Up chair James DeVellis met with Foxborough’s Conservation Commission Monday in hopes of beginning work on the turf field project by the end of January. DeVellis said trees behind the high school should begin to be cleared in the last two weeks of January.

Foxborough to Fly Flag at Half-Mast Saturday for Retired Treasurer/Tax Collector

The town of Foxborough will pay respect to one of its own Saturday by flying the Town Common's American flag at half-mast.

Barbara Germaine served the town for over 23 years as Foxborough's collector/treasure. She passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was 75 years old.

Foxborough Schools to Participate in MBA's 28th Annual Mock Trial Program

Students from Foxborough High School and Foxborough Regional Charter School
will be turning their classrooms into courtrooms to assume the roles of both lawyers and witnesses during this year's 28th annual Mock Trial Program presented by the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA).

More than 1,500 students from Plymouth and Norfolk County schools will be participating in the program beginning on Jan. 22 and running through March 20. The program, first organized in 1985, places high school teams from 16 regions across the state in a simulated courtroom.
