Warrior Run in Foxborough to Benefit "Homes For Our Troops"

The Second Annual Warrior Run (motorcycle) is taking place on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Foxborough Warriors and local residents are riding this year to support our American Warriors.

The Second Annual Warrior Run (motorcycle) is taking place on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Rodman Mobil 1 Lube Express Lot in Foxborough. Money raised from The Warrior Run benefits "Homes for Our Troops," an organization that helps build specially adapted homes for disabled soldier.  Last year, the Warrior Run raised over $10,000 and hopes to exceed this year's goal of $15,000.

The story behind the Warrior Run in Foxborough begins with resident Nancy Campbell whose son, attending military boot-camp at the time, was anxious to help and assist other military families in need. She stumbled upon "Homes for our Troops (HFOT)," on the internet and decided to help a building brigade in Middleborough build a home for Army SSG Michael Downing who was injured while serving.

"Worrying about what lied ahead for my son and hoping never to need a HFOT - another Marine mom, my husband and myself went to Middleborough to help out," said Campbell. "When we got there it was so amazing. I met so many wonderful people and just wanted to do something to help this cause because I feel we don't do enough for these men and women who give so much for us."

With a spark ignited, Campbell was determined to bring that same mission back home to Foxborough.

"Being a stay at home mother for 19-years and having no real knowledge about computers or organizing my own life never mind a motorcycle run," noted Campbell. "I got a committee together and we [raised] more than $10,000 our first time out."

With the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 this year, Campbell is hoping for another "wonderful ride."

The scenic motorcycle ride leaves from the Mobil 1 Lube Express parking lot and ends at Fusion 5 Sports Bar. All bikes are welcome and the cost is $20 for a rider and $10 for a passenger. Non-riders are welcome to join the event at Rodman Ford for $10.

Registration is from 9-10:30 a.m Sept. 17.
