Selectmen Vote In Support of Crossroads Veteran Services District

Foxborough Selectmen approve veterans services district.

Selectmen from Norton and Foxborough voiced their unanimous approval this week to craft a four-town veteran's services district, called the Crossroads Veterans' Services District.

Foxborough selectmen voted 5-0 Tuesday to join Mansfield, Norton and Easton in crafting a regional veterans district, if those towns agree. 

Foxborough's Town manager Kevin Paicos and Michael Johns, director of Foxborough veteran services department presented the plan to selectmen, where Paicos explained that creating a regional veterans district would "increase veteran service for no more money."

In September, Paicos said a proposal to regionalize Foxboro's veteran’s services could enhance veteran’s services for the town, allow Johns to continue his work in Foxborough and increase his pay.

If the regional plan is created, the four towns would share two agents, and each community would have a 20-hour assistant and an office to provide administrative help. The two agents proposed for the shared jobs are Mansfield agent John Hogan, and Johns.

Mansfield discussed the regional plan several weeks ago, with that board also in support.

Easton town officials met Monday to discuss the regionalization plan, where approximately a dozen Easton veterans showed up to express disapproval of the plan,

Foxborough veterans and Bob Siteman, chairman of Foxboro's veterans advisory group, attended Foxborough's selectmen meeting to show their support for the proposal.
