Liability Insurance and Concert Curfew on Tap at Special Selectmen Meeting

Maybe the third time will be the charm when the selectmen and the Kraft Group meet on July 11 to solve their insurance snafu.

The two sides are scheduled to meet in the third special Selectmen meeting since late June at 8:15 p.m. in the Foxborough High School Media Center to attempt to attempt to solve the insurance issue.

Afterwards, the board will hold a public hearing to move the curfew of the Bon Jovi concert on July 20 from 11:15 p.m. to midnight.

In a report, stadium advisory committee chairman George Bell wrote that he does not have a problem with moving the concert's curfew to midnight due to the past behavior of the crowd that attends Bon Jovi concerts.

Originally, a public hearing for the extended hours was scheduled for July 9 but the Kraft Group requested a two day delay in the hopes that the insurance issue could be solved by then.

Previously, the selectmen voted to only grant the entertainment license for the July 6 New England Revolution game if certain conditions was met including the Kraft Group agreeing to pay the difference of $42,500 between the town's old and new liability insurance.

While an agreement was not made, the game was played without the licence from the town as public statements and documents show that the Kraft Group believed they did everything they could to legally fulfill the license requirements.

Also scheduled for 7 p.m. is an executive session discussion on the interim town manager. The board will address the issue publicly at 8 p.m. Town manager Kevin Paicos originally left weeks ago to honor obligations from the National Guard but has not been seen or heard from since. It is unknown when he will come back.
