Safe Medicine Disposal Day in Foxborough

Foxborough's SAFE Coalition offers Safe Disposal Day for unwanted controlled substances

The SAFE Coalition in Foxborough is working hard to reduce substance abuse among Foxborough teenagers. One surprising fact concerning substance abuse is that most abused drugs among teenagers are those taken from the medicine cabinets of family and friends.

According to the 2010 communities that care survey, Foxborough teenagers in grades 9-12 reported abuse of prescription medications including taking pain relievers (11.7%), tranquilizers (6.6% ), and stimulants (16.2%) not prescribed for them by a doctor.

To help to reduce this source, the SAFE Coalition is sponsoring a Drug Takeback Day, at which people can turn in old and unused medications safely.
