Road Work: Upcoming Weekend Lane Restrictions on I-95 Foxborough

MassDOT has issued an alert that weekend roadwork will begin on Friday, May 17th through Monday, May 20th on I-95 South in Foxborough, weather permitting.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is preparing to begin its bridge deck surface replacement project on I-95 South next week and as such, is alerting motorists in Foxborough to expect possible traffic delays due to lane restrictions.

The bridge deck surface replacement project on I-95 Southbound over Green Street (Route 106) will require lane restrictions beginning on Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m., through Monday, May 20, 5 a.m., weather permitting, according to MassDOT. Similar lane restrictions will also be in place Friday, June 7 through Monday, June 10.

At a Glance: Foxborough Lane Restrictions

  • Friday, May 17th at 8 p.m. – Traffic will be restricted from three lanes to two lanes on the Southbound roadway to perform pavement marking and install temporary concrete barriers to allow for the two high speed lanes of the bridge deck to allow deck surface replacement.

  • Friday, May 17th - Two available alternate routes will be announced using Message Boards and signs at I-95 Southbound, Route 1 and Southbound Route 140. The alternate routes are Route 1 South @ Exit 9 to I-495 South back to I-95 or Route 140 South Exit 7A to I-495 North back to I-95.

 

  • Bridge deck work will continue 24 hours a day over the weekend into Monday morning or until the work is finished. To allow certain construction operations, traffic will be restricted to one lane late at night.
  • Monday, May 20th at 5 a.m. – Traffic will be restored to three lanes Southbound for the Monday morning commute.
  • June 7-10 – Weather permitting, the same sequence will be performed to complete the remainder of the Southbound work.
